With 40 colours to choose from and literally thousands of combinations...how will you choose???

Please remember that the colour will change whatever colour you choose - when you add your elements (hair, fur or ashes).  The resin picks up the colours and effects of your elements, again making it even more unique to you and your jewellery. Embrace the unknown and trust the process...

A lighter colour choice is better when encapsulating hair.

Hair will be less visible on darker colours.

Taking a Putty Fingerprint Impression

Taking a Putty Fingerprint Impression

Please watch this video before you begin...

This video demonstration will show the process of how to take a putty fingerprint impression with your Impressive Memories kit – please watch this before you attempt to take impressions.

If you’ve decided to create Impressive Memories PUTTY Fingerprint Jewellery then I need an impression of the fingerprint. Jewellery can also be made from ink prints of the fingerprint but this blog explains the process of capturing a PUTTY PRINT – a three-dimensional exact impression of the fingerprint. This is then pressed directly into the precious metal as if your loved one's finger has directly pressed this, to create your jewellery.

There are 4 ways you can go about doing this with Impressive Memories:

  1. Book a Studio appointment I will take the impressions for you. We can discuss your jewellery and once it is ready, you come back to collect it (or have it posted to you if you prefer).
  2. Order from my website All fingerprint jewellery includes a FREE FINGERPRINT KIT.  Kits can be posted anywhere in the UK (Next day delivery is available). When you return the impressions to me I will make your jewellery.
  3. Buy just the kit  If you would like to capture a fingerprint impression, but you’re not ready to order just yet…This option lets you capture an Impressive Memory now, and the prints can be safely kept for many years until you decide that you would like to order jewellery.
  4. Memorial Prints - I offer a call-out service at many local funeral homes where I can take prints of your loved one if they've passed away. Get in touch as soon as possible if this is something you are interested in knowing more about.

How difficult is it to take a fingerprint impression?

It’s not difficult at all.  It is quick, clean and easy to do.

  • Remember you only need one good print to make as many jewellery items as you wish, now and for years to come.

Start by reading through all the instructions in the leaflet provided first, then watch this video to show what’s involved.  If you have any questions, please just ask BEFORE you start! You can contact me HERE or call 07837800353.

Caring for Silver Jewellery

Caring for Silver Jewellery

Silver Jewellery at Impressive Memories

Silver Jewellery made at Impressive Memories

All silver jewellery at Impressive Memories is made from Sterling Silver, this is also known as .925 silver, and is the strongest form of silver available, but silver is still a relatively soft metal. Your jewellery is kiln fired, work-hardened and professionally polished to provide the strongest metal surface possible. Your charm will only have my Edinburgh Assay Hallmark on it if legally required.

Wearing your jewellery

Once you begin wearing jewellery different external forces will of course come into contact with the sterling silver. This will vary from one person to another. Any force harder than .925 silver has the potential to scratch or dent your jewellery surface. Chemicals and lifestyles also impact our jewellery. Our hormone levels and the food we eat all alter our skin which in turn makes us more, or less, prone to tarnishing.

Possible causes of damage

  • Other jewellery hitting against your charm
  • Clothing/buttons
  • Zips
  • Chemicals
  • Detergents
  • Perfume
  • Makeup/lotions etc
  • Hand sanitiser
  • Wearing jewellery in the bath/shower
  • Swimming
  • Not removing jewellery at bedtime
  • Not cleaning and protecting your jewellery

Why polish silver?

Polishing your jewellery will help to maintain the shine and lustre of your impressive jewellery.

Polishing silver will remove & slow down the natural tarnishing process. Using a polishing cloth with added anti-tarnish will give your jewellery added protection. Keeping the surface metal polished & protected will also mean your jewellery stays shiny too!

The amount of polishing that silver needs will depend on the individual person and their lifestyle.

What happens after silver is scratched, dented or damaged?

When we damage, dent or scratch our jewellery this exposes the surface metal which exposes the unprotected silver and it will tarnish (blacken) more quickly, as it is being exposed to oxygen and doesn’t have the protection to slow down the natural process. This darkening makes the damage more noticeable.

Storing Silver

If you are not wearing your jewellery keep it in a safe place. Tarnishing will occur during this time too - don't be alarmed if you open your jewellery and it is dark or discoloured.

How do I remove tarnish?

I have a blog on my website to help with cleaning and caring for your silver jewellery - click the button below to find out more.

Removing the visible tarnish on your charm might help minimise any visual damage that’s already occurred and prevent/slow down further damage.

Caring for your jewellery going forward…

Avoid the suggested possible causes above, clean and polish your jewellery regularly and enjoy your Impressive Memories.

4 Reasons Not to Buy My Keepsake Jewellery

4 Reasons Not to Buy My Keepsake Jewellery

4 Reasons You Might NOT Buy Jewellery from Impressive Memories

Sounds a bit odd doesn’t it? Usually, a business would try to convince you that you simply HAD to buy their product…bombard you with adverts and reasons why you should BUY NOW…

And here’s me telling you 4 reasons why NOT to buy from me…

Have I gone completely nuts?

But what if you maybe shouldn’t buy keepsake jewellery from Impressive Memories?
Zig Ziglar said “Every sale has five basic obstacles
  1. No Need
  2. No Money
  3. No Hurry
  4. No Desire
  5. No Trust

Why might I not be the best fit for you?

#1 “I don’t need what you’re selling”

The jewellery I make is created for you with YOUR memory, YOUR moment in time. It captures an emotion and has way more sentimental value than monetary. The necklace I make a mum with her baby daughter’s handprint will be priceless and precious to her.

There won’t be a designer label there…If you like things with labels then my jewellery is not for you.

Maybe you need an instant purchase? I can’t do that either… I don’t have duplicate stock in lots of different shapes and sizes, and I do need time to make your piece. All my jewellery is made by hand and only made by me…I’m not Elizabeth Duke!

#2 “I can’t afford it”

There are cheaper alternatives out there. You could jump on eBay and look for something which looks quite similar – on the surface – and it will cost less…initially.

I don’t sell cheaper items because I value the item I am making for you, just as much as you do. I want your jewellery to last and I want it to bring years of memories.

Could I make my jewellery cheaper?

  • I could not have invested in a kiln – just given it a quick blast on the gas stove or a blow torch. Yup, you could make a charm that way…plenty of sellers do this (and plenty buyers don’t know this).
  • I could make you a tiny charm with much less silver.
  • I could not solder the jump ring that will hold your jewellery to your necklace. Chances are it would fall off in no time at all, and be lost forever…
  • I didn’t need to buy machinery to polish and harden your piece before you took it home, but because I did – your piece will be significantly stronger for it too.
If you’re looking for the cheapest option, not the best value option – I’m not the person to make jewellery for you.

Is there a better solution?

There are ways to make everything more affordable and jewellery is no exception.

Gift Vouchers

If you would like jewellery made but just don’t have the budget for it right now…there are alternative ways to manage this. Maybe you have a birthday soon and friends and family might like to buy you a gift voucher to put towards buying something you’d REALLY like.

Only buy the kit just now, not the jewellery

If you would like to invest in capturing your memory but you just cannot justify the expense…right now…you could just buy the kit (for fingerprints). You can capture the moment or the memory now and keep it safe for as long as you want to. When the time is right for you, you have the memories and you can have your jewellery created.

#3 “I’m not ready to make that decision right now”

Zig Ziglar calls this is the stage that you have no hurry or desire to buy – right now.

Buying jewellery isn’t a top priority – I get it!

We’re all so busy. If you’re like me you probably know it is something you’d love to do, but day-to-day ‘stuff’ gets in the way!!

Maybe these moments don’t feel too precious right now. When you have a newborn baby you’re so enthralled to sit and watch your new little miracle that you forget this moment passes in a flash. But it’s too late once the moment has gone. Milestone after milestone your child grows and changes…will you remember just how tiny those hands and feet were in years to come?

People are not in our lives forever.

Whether we choose to forget this or don’t want to accept it…none of us are here forever and what if the day comes and you regret not holding onto a fingerprint of a loved one?

Maybe it’s too painful or emotional to face some situations? I get that…it can be very tough.

Maybe you’re worried about lifting the phone and trying to ask for help on how to capture a memory?

“What if I cry?” Chances are I will cry with you!! I always have a big box of tissues to hand…you’d be amazed how many tears I see on a daily basis. (Just to confirm…you can cry and be happy too!! I don’t just have miserable customers!!! Promise)

But if it’s easier you’re welcome to talk to me by email, or text or on social…go for it!  All the jewellery I make can be ordered online, distance is not an issue (even outwith the UK)…if you don’t fancy being here face-to-face, its no problem at all. I am more than happy to arrange everything by post.

If it doesn’t feel emotionally right for you to do this, if you’re ok letting these moments fade to memories, then you probably shouldn’t be ordering from Impressive Memories.

4.“I don’t trust you…yet”

That’s understandable – why should you? Why should you trust me with your money or your memories? Well, here are 8 things I’ve done to try and help.

  1. I’ve been in business since January 2011, and plan to be around for many more.
  2. I have about 40 five star reviews on Google added in 2018. I also have a one-star review from someone who’s never set foot in my business or had any contact with my business, but he felt the need to be nasty…hmmm I wonder why? Ah well…the others are genuine.
  3. In 2016 I was voted by my customers as ‘Fife’s Best Home Based Business’ and got through to the national finals with http://www.scotlandsbusinessawards.co.uk . In 2019 I was a finalist in the Best Memorial Company in the Scottish Funeral Awards too.
  4. My website is built on a site that I have made as secure as I can. In the address bar, you’ll see an https address with a little green padlock – The ‘S’ at the end of HTTPS stands for ‘Secure’. It means all communications between your browser and my website are encrypted (that means your details are safe).
  5. There are a few other things I do with my website to keep it safe and secure…it doesn’t cost a huge amount more…a few hundred pounds invested in MY website each year means that YOU can feel safe making a purchase. I think it’s worth paying it.
  6. I use PayPal to process your web transactions. Most of us know and trust PayPal.
  7. My invoicing is done online through XERO and using STRIPE. Stripe is a similar company to PayPal but not quite so well known (yet).
  8. I accept all major cards for payment, I don’t ask customers to pay using cash – you’re very welcome to use cash, but if you make a card payment you have more security. All purchases on payments cards are recorded, with a paper trail. This safety feature comes in handy when you need to dispute or cease an unauthorised transaction. I would hope you would never need or want to raise a dispute, but should the need arise, you can.
If you still feel there’s a risk, then maybe Impressive Memories isn’t right for you.

Final Thoughts

Not everybody needs what I make and maybe you don’t either. I don’t want every customer to come to me…but I do want the right customers to come to me. When you leave with the item I make you I want you to be 100% happy with it, I want you to love it and tell others that you love it too.

If you think I AM a good fit for you…I’d love to help you further…

Mother’s Day Gift Guide 2020

Mother’s Day Gift Guide 2020

What do you buy your mum on Mother’s Day?

Flowers? Always a favourite, but they are expensive and last only a few days…Chocolates? They are always welcome, but somehow just don’t feel ‘enough’. Wine is also welcomed, but it lasts even less time than the chocolates, let alone the flowers!!

Would you like a gift that is totally unique, handmade for mum, inspired by the very person (or persons) who made her a mum in the first place?

Maybe you are a mum yourself and you’d like to ‘help’ someone choose the right gift for you – share this with them and start hinting!

You’re in the right place!

Every mum is different and she deserves a present as unique as she is. Mums aren’t mass produced, and the gift that she’s given on the 22nd March 2020 shouldn’t be either.

3. Golden Fingerprint Jewellery

If Mum prefers a golden charm to silver, this could be perfect!

  • Costs almost the same as silver.
  • Golden Moments are not a precious metal
  • Charms do not need Hallmarked.
  • They are a solid golden metal alloy NOT PLATED and will not wear off
  • All metals will tarnish – this will too – but a cleaning cloth and a gentle wipe will bring it back to its shining glory.
  • I’ll give you a free cleaning cloth!
  • It is a very robust and strong metal – it will not scratch or damage easily.
  • Golden Moments are better suited to more defined fingerprints – so toddlers through to adults, and pets too! Miniprints will suit better for babies.

Mother's Day Gift Guide 2020 22

Are you looking for a truly Impressive gift?

These solid Sterling Silver charms are miniaturised from your child’s hand and foot!! How awesome is that?

The price might look high, but if you investigate this style of jewellery you will find that only a handful of people in the UK can offer these, and nobody (that I am aware of) is doing them for as good a price!

These charms are made entirely by myself – I have developed my own technique that is different to the rest of the UK market.

This doesn’t mean they are only limited to my local clients because I am building a network of lifecasters who will be on hand to help create the initial lifecasts. (I need the lifecast as the first stage in creating these).

Find out more about these Impressive ‘Tiny Treasures’…with split payments, they are much more affordable than you may think, and such a talking point!

Got a question?

I’m sure you have lots of questions. Here are a few I’ve been asked recently…(click on the question to see the answer). If you’d like to know anything – just ask!

I live too far away - can I order anything?

Yes, all jewellery can be made by posting out a kit for you to take the initial prints.  You may even have hand/footprints already that I can use…best to get in touch and ask.  Call me on 07837800353 or email [email protected]

My budget is under £25 can you help?

Yes, I have lots of ceramic options for you to create in this budget.  Take a look…

I am a mum of many...can jewellery combine more than one child?

Yes, I have lots of jewellery designs that can show off your impressive children no matter how many you have!

Do you have any gift ideas for 'mum-to-be'?

Gift Vouchers are a perfect idea! Let the new parents decide what they’d like to create once their little bundle arrives.

I've left it too late - HELP?

It’s never too late!! Have you seen my NEW GIFT EXPERIENCES? They are available 24/7 and fully downloadable gift option!

Or why not order an item and have the print/impression kit ready to take the impressions on Mother’s Day – with the Impressive Mum, then have your piece made. You waited 9 months for a baby, you can wait a fortnight for your jewellery 😉

I'm a mum to an angel, can I have anything made?

If you have ink prints or hand/footprints I can turn these into jewellery for you. The originals will come to no harm.  I also make memorial keepsakes from locks of hair and cremation ashes too.

Drop me an email if you’d like me to help [email protected]  or call for a chat on 07837800353.

My mum has passed away, could I remember her on Mother's Day?

Take a look at my Memorial & Bereavement Memories Page. Also HERE is another blog with suggestions too – and see if you’d like to remember your mum with any of these ideas. Drop me an email if you’d like me to help [email protected]  or call for a chat on 07837800353.
