Lifecasts – When is the best age to create them?

Lifecasts – When is the best age to create them?

When is the best age for a life casting?

This is the question I am asked the most and it's a really good question to ask. The problem is the answer is not that simple.

It's too late to capture today, if it's already tomorrow.

"I wish I'd done this when my children were smaller"

"I'd give anything to hold those newborn feet again"

"You forget so quickly how small they once were, don't you?"

"I wish I'd known I could have done that - now it's too late"

But when is the best age to capture a lifecasting? Well, that depends - I'm not being noncommittal. It depends on WHAT you want to cast, and WHY.

Why do you want life casts?

What will you have lifecast?

Why now?

What memory are you capturing?

Why might waiting be better?

What would I regret if I didn't do this?

Why should you NOT wait

There are no age limitations on my life castings.

What I can’t do is pause time, or go back in time...that would be pretty clever...

Being prepared and being organised is the key to successfully holding onto YOUR Impressive Memories.

I noticed on a website that the caster wouldn't cast babies older than 6 months, "due to them being unsuitable" - Seriously? It's most definitely THAT life caster who is unsuitable, it is certainly NOT your baby.

There are NO AGE LIMITATIONS to lifecasting - young or old.

Another company claims that babies who "don't cooperate" will have to pay extra if more casting material is needed, AND return another day!  - I would never expect my customers to pay extra because their baby had wriggled! Wriggling is NOT a problem - in fact, I encourage it!!

Do not worry about anything like this happening at Impressive Memories! In my 16 years, I've never been unable to cast anyone or anything that's been to me for lifecasting!!

Baby Lifecasting

As a new parent, you'll want to treasure every second of your precious little bundle. They grow so so quickly, don't they? You just want to pause time and enjoy the moment - but it's also great fun watching them grow, and change and become little people. Lifecasting lets you capture that moment in time. Photographs are great but lifecasts let you actually touch and hold those memories.

Why Is Now The Right Time?

There could be many reasons. I would always say there is never a wrong time to capture a moment with a lifecast. It's a great way to remember a special anniversary or milestone, but in reality, we should treasure every day we have. Not just special occasions.

Why might waiting be better?

If proud Grandparents are also keen to have baby lifecasts and keepsakes, it can be a good idea to do them at different ages to yours.  If you have newborn casts taken, they could wait until your baby is 6 months old...then you can compare and see how they've grown.

Why should you NOT wait?

Once the moment has passed it can never come back. Don't let memories fade - keep holding them!

Don't be left with regrets, wishing you'd done it.

Whenever I take a lifecast for you, we are creating a tangible snapshot of that moment in time.

Here are some of the benefits and possible disadvantages of casting different ages. For more [email protected] on baby lifecasting I have another blog here.

Lifecasting is NOT just for Babies!

A common misconception is that only babies can create lifecasts

When it comes to lifecasting adults the emphasis isn't on those cute little baby wrinkles anymore.

Our hands are so unique and instantly recognisable as those they belong to.

What we're doing when we cast adult hands is recognising and honouring those in our lifecast.

We're telling the world that this person is important to us and that we want to capture the connections, love and respect we have for them.

With the level of detail captured you can create a unique family heirloom. Imagine passing your lifecast down through the generations.

As we live in a digital age of no longer printing and storing photographs - How are YOU going to show future generations where they originated? Imagine letting them touch, hold and feel the hands of generations that came before them?

Memorial Lifecasting

Memories are never more precious than when we lose a loved one.

Lifecasting can still be done but it is vital that you contact me as soon as possible.

I cannot guarantee it will always be possible but I can guarantee that I have the skills, experience and industry requirements to do this for you.

I am more than happy to discuss this option with you if it is something you would like to know more about.

But when IS the best time to take lifecasts?

Hmmm There just isn't an answer to this is there?

Hopefully, I've helped you think about what YOU want to capture and why?

  • Newborn Babies
  • Chubby 6 month old hands and feet
  • Birthdays
  • Milestones
  • Introducing a New Sibling
  • Recognising a family connection
  • Wedding Hand Clasp
  • Anniversary
  • Elderly relative whose hand holds a lifetime of memories
  • Loved one who has passed
  • Don't forget PETS too!

I don't think there is such a thing as a 'Best Time'.  Whatever you cast, and whenever I cast it, we are taking a tangible snapshot of that moment.

Gold Fingerprint Jewellery

Gold Fingerprint Jewellery

Gold Fingerprint Jewellery

Fingerprint jewellery is such a unique way to wear bespoke jewellery. Made just for you, it can capture a moment, milestone or a memory, for you to treasure it for a lifetime.

What is your favourite jewellery to wear? Do you like warm golds or cool whites and silvers? What about rose gold? Do you mix your jewellery up or always keep to the same precious metals?

There are so many choices, aren't there?

You may have noticed there are a lot of people offering silver fingerprint jewellery, but not as many offering gold.

I get asked a lot for gold fingerprint jewellery, especially rose gold, but the issue has always been the price.

The problem is that gold is a very expensive precious metal.

What if there was an alternative solution?

  • Are you considering investing in gold fingerprint jewellery?
  • Do you love the idea of fingerprint jewellery but usually find it’s made in silver, which you don’t wear?
  • Have you looked online and found that gold fingerprint jewellery is possible, but the price tag is way over your budget?

If you answered ‘yes’ to any of those questions – keep reading…

Golden Moments by Impressive Memories

This charm is made from an INK FINGERPRINT.

These stacked charms are created from PUTTY FINGERPRINT IMPRESSIONS.

How have I solved the problem and made gold fingerprint jewellery as affordable as silver?

At Impressive Memories, my aim is to create beautiful, high-quality products. I pride myself on using the best materials and creating work of a very high standard.

At the same time, I also appreciate that the budget is important.

A solid gold hallmarked, fingerprint charm will cost approximately £500 to make. There are many jewelers who can do this for you.

My solution gives you a golden charm with all the beauty of gold but will cost you much less, almost a tenth of the price – Golden Moments charms start at just over £60.

I've made gold fingerprint jewellery affordable: How?

  • Hallmarked gold is a precious metal made in 9ct, 18ct & 21ct depending on the amount of 'pure' gold mixed into an alloy of metals. My Golden Moments range is an alloyed metal but does not contain traditional gold.
  • My Charms do not need Hallmarked. Traditional gold over 1g in weight is required by law to be assayed and hallmarked by an Assay Office. I am registered with the Edinburgh Assay Office. This allows me to have my work hallmarked if I need to.
  • My Golden Moments are a solid golden metal alloy, not plated, the ‘gold’ will not wear off. Gold plating another metal to give a 'coating' of gold is a temporary solution to wanting a gold finish.
  • All metals will tarnish – this will too – but a cleaning cloth and a gentle wipe will bring it back to its shining glory (I’ll give you a free cleaning cloth).
  • Golden Moments are very robust and strong – they will not scratch or damage easily.

These stacked hearts are created from INK FINGERPRINTS

A handmade golden charm with an imprint of a childs hand or foot.

HAND & FOOT prints, PAW prints too, can be worn on your golden jewellery.

What do I need to create Golden Moment Fingerprint Jewellery?

  1. An INK PRINT of the fingerprint, hand, foot or paw print. I have the kit you need to do this cleanly and easily.
  2. A FINGERPRINT IMPRESSION in putty. I have the kit you need to do this cleanly and easily.

3 Reasons why Gold is different to Silver

  1. can make you a charm in genuine gold using a similar technique to silver, but it would cost more than £500 for me to make.
  2. Alternatively, fingerprint charms can be made in gold using a much older technique. The process of ‘lost wax’ is thousands of years old…a beautifully skilled method. Again, the cost for a gold charm is usually upwards of £500. If you have that budget then there are many excellent jewellers who can make you a gold, fingerprint charm.
  3. Hallmarking is another cost implication. Any gold jewellery over 1g in weight must legally be hallmarked (the legal weight for silver is higher at 7.78g).  The Edinburgh Assay website can answer all those questions.

Cremation Ash Jewellery

Cremation Ash Jewellery

Cremation Ash Jewellery

Cremation ashes can make you a beautiful and unique piece of jewellery, with a look that is as subtle as you want it to be. Cremation ash jewellery can bring comfort if you are grieving the loss of a loved one. It lets you capture a moment and hold it close when you need it the most.

I appreciate this is a bit of a ‘Marmite’ topic, isn’t it? You might love the idea or hate it…

I get it, I do…but if it’s something you’re not sure about, or you haven’t seen the results of making cremation ashes into jewellery then please take a look…maybe you’ll like what you see. Please feel free to comment below on your thoughts and feelings (please be polite and respectful at all times).

Cremation ashes all vary a great deal – colours & textures. If you think of cremation ashes as being similar to the sand on the beach…from coloured pebbles to super smooth pure white sand…ever changing and always unique.

I think they give the effect of a beautiful stone – what do you think?

Cremation Ashes hold a beautiful spectrum of natural colours and every example is as unique as the memory it is creating.
  • What do I need to be able to do this?
You just need a spoonful of cremation ash, often less.
  • How much will it cost?
    From £49+
  • Are there time limitations for this to be feasible?
No, so long as you have the ashes there is no time limit on being able to create jewellery.
  • Do I need to be able to visit your studio in person?
No. This can all be done online and through postage (see below). Distance is no problem – keep reading to find out how you can order yours.
  • Can this also be offered for pets?
Yes. Pet ashes can be used too.

I have many other pieces of jewellery that can also hold cremation ashes, but as yet I don’t have photographs which are shareable. When I make these it is at the families discretion whether the images are shared. Due to the personal nature they often choose not to.

The following products can also make cremation ash jewellery…

Concerns or Worries…

How do I know that these are definitely the ashes that I send?
  • I only work exclusively on ONE order of cremation ashes at a time. Each item is handmade by me in my studio, undisturbed in a safe and purpose-built environment.
How safe are my ashes while you are working with them?
  • The safety of your cremation ashes is of utmost consideration when in my care.
  • Your ashes are stored with your order paperwork and again have their own designated area at all times.
  • Ashes are touched only by tweezers and individually placed and set within your jewellery. All equipment is cleaned thoroughly between orders.
  • It would be virtually impossible for my system to go wrong and I treat your cremation ashes with the utmost of respect. They never leave the container/sealed bag that you send me.
  • I don’t ever transfer the ashes into anything else. There is absolutely no waste. Everything that is not used is returned back to you along with your impressive jewellery.

If you have any questions or queries, no matter how small, please just ask…I’m human! I’m here and I’m happy to answer any questions you might have…go on…ask me!!

Family Hand Casting

Family Hand Casting

Family Hand Casting

When it comes to capturing memories, who better to do it with than your very own family?

Who would YOU create a family hand clasp with?

Whatever combination our families are made up of – whether it’s mums, dads, stepfamilies, brothers, sisters, grandchildren or even our pets…Who better to capture a memory with than those that stick by us through thick and thin?

A Memorable Family Casting…

Back in November 2017 I was awaiting the arrival of my last lifecasting appointment before Christmas. I was exhausted, up to my eyes in hands, feet and fingerprints, the phone never stopped ringing and I remember thinking “Just one more…just one more…you can do this…”

The car arrived…

Out gets one young man, followed by another…and another…the lady driving gets out, as does the gentleman in the passenger seat…

Where was the baby???

This wasn’t a baby casting…it was a very poignant family casting.

Mum had organised a hand casting for three sons and their Dad.

**usually once you make a booking I get in touch and we have a chat about what you’d like created…somehow in the festive madness, I hadn’t done this…I should have known it wasn’t a baby arriving!! I’ve now amended this on my website…

family hand cast 1
family hand cast 2
family hand cast 3

Here we are trying to organise the four of them. What a giggle they all had trying to arrange themselves.

Sadly, the reason this family were capturing a memory was due to David (Dad) having a terminal illness and a prognosis of only weeks to live.

Making Jewellery with Locks of Hair

Locks of Hair Memorabilia

Have you kept that first lock of hair from your baby?

Or

Are you holding onto a treasured lock from a loved one that you’ve lost?

Keeping a lock of a person’s hair is not a new idea, it began back with the Victorians. Hair was seen as a precious memento, and it still is…

Why is this a problem?
Well, let’s be honest – how many of us just have it tucked away in a ‘safe’ place? hidden away and not seen and enjoyed…
Instead of leaving it to lie in a dusty old drawer, why not create something beautiful to last a lifetime?
  • What do I need to be able to do this?
You just need a little lock of hair (or pet fur)
  • How much will it cost?
    From £45+
  • Are there time limitations for this to be feasible?
No, so long as you have a lock of hair there is no time limit on being able to create jewellery.
  • Do I need to be able to visit your studio in person?
No. This can all be done online and through postage. Distance is no problem – keep reading to find out how you can order yours.
  • Can this also be offered for pets?
Yes. A lock of pet fur can be a lovely way to remember a treasured and loved pet.

Be your own boss

Be your own boss

Impressive Memories

What's it like to run your own business?

What was your dream job when you were growing up? Did you ever think about becoming an entrepreneur?

If you could change your job now – would you?

I received a letter recently asking me about being self-employed…

be your own boss

At Glenwood High School one of the S3 elective subjects is “Be your own boss”. The class have been learning about entrepreneurs and were asked to make contact with a local small business. One of the students decided to get in touch and ask a few more questions about Impressive Memories.

I’d have loved to be taught about being self-employed when I was at school.

Not only did I have no idea what job I wanted to do when I was 14, I don’t think being self-employed was even mentioned as being a possibility.

Could this mean more students will become entrepreneurs?

Here are the questions Mollie asked me…

Questionnaire

Name of business:

Impressive Memories – where I make your memories tangible. To touch, hold & treasure for a lifetime.

Reason for choosing the name:

Initially, I called my business Impressive Babies because I predominantly worked only with babies and I took their impressions…which were impressive. As my business progressed I didn’t only work with babies but children, adults and pets too, I was also creating jewellery and ceramics – the name no longer felt right…so in 2011 I changed it to Impressive Memories.

The name to me means I capture memories, through impressions – and I still always aim to be Impressive!

When did you start the business?

I started lifecasting when my daughter Erin was born in 2003. I created casts for friends and family for several years. In 2011 I registered my business with HMRC and officially became self-employed.

Why did you start the business?

I wanted to capture memories of my daughter as she grew up, then realised other people wanted to do this too.

I enjoyed helping people hold on to tangible memories of moments that were important to them. I wanted to prove to myself that I could make a living doing something I loved with no one telling me what to do!

How long did it take to start the business?

Initially, I started my business working only part-time on it, while still teaching part time too. Soon it became clear that both jobs needed more hours than I had, and I needed to decide how to go forward.

The dream of being 100% self-sufficient sat in the back of my mind until 2013 when I started working in the funeral industry capturing memories for families who’d lost a loved one. It made me realise that life is short, often shorter than we’d expect. You only get one life and I knew I’d regret it if I DIDN”T go for it. I kept asking myself “What are you waiting for?” It’s easier to make excuses and NOT do something

I knew I wanted to work on my business full time but it is a scary prospect to leave a secure career, with a salary, a pension and stability. As a solo parent, I had no backup plan and had to make a lot of changes if I was to make my business a success.

In 2014 I resigned from my teaching career and decided to focus 100% on Impressive Memories.

Do you enjoy being self-employed?

Yes, I love being self-employed. It’s hard work…constantly, the hours are long and it’s hard to switch off and stop working – especially because I work from home. It is a rollercoaster and no two days are ever the same…or predictable, which I really like. I have no intentions ever to work for anyone else again.

If you could go back would you change anything?

I wouldn’t change anything I’ve done. I have always made the best decision I can, at that time. You never know what’s ahead of you, and you can’t change what’s already happened so you should always trust your gut instinct and do your best…that’s all you can ever do.

Is it easier having your own business than working for someone else?

Neither option is easier or harder than the other, just different.

Being your own boss needs more than just the ability to create the product your service you plan to sell. You need self-discipline, a lot of hard work, tenacity, determination and bucket loads of courage.

Running a business successfully you have to become an expert in so many different things…not just making/doing the thing you think you’re good at!

Possibly the biggest misconception people have about being self-employed is that you can do what you want, when you want and never have to do things you don’t like to do…erm…WRONG! The only thing I outsource is my accounting & tax…everything else I do myself. From CEO to cleaner.

I can only spend about 20% of my time actually doing the hands-on making of products, 80% of my time is taken up running the business properly.

I have had to learn about finances, accounting, marketing, time management, advertising, IT, web design, budgets, investment, communication, customer care and not forgetting all the laws surrounding your industry too.

Would you recommend starting a business to other people?

Deciding what to do in life is a decision only you can make. What’s right for me might not be right for someone else.

My advice would be to ask yourself “What’s the worst that can happen?” if you can answer every single question and scenario, and be brutally honest, then you’ll know if you can do it, or not.

Small business survival rates are as high as 91 per cent after one year of trading, but after five years just four in ten small businesses will still be trading.

If you think you’ve got what it takes – go for it!
I did and I love it.

Have an Impressive week!

Best wishes

4 Reasons Not to Buy My Keepsake Jewellery

4 Reasons Not to Buy My Keepsake Jewellery

4 Reasons You Might NOT Buy Jewellery from Impressive Memories

Sounds a bit odd doesn’t it? Usually, a business would try to convince you that you simply HAD to buy their product…bombard you with adverts and reasons why you should BUY NOW…

And here’s me telling you 4 reasons why NOT to buy from me…

Have I gone completely nuts?

But what if you maybe shouldn’t buy keepsake jewellery from Impressive Memories?
Zig Ziglar said “Every sale has five basic obstacles
  1. No Need
  2. No Money
  3. No Hurry
  4. No Desire
  5. No Trust

Why might I not be the best fit for you?

#1 “I don’t need what you’re selling”

The jewellery I make is created for you with YOUR memory, YOUR moment in time. It captures an emotion and has way more sentimental value than monetary. The necklace I make a mum with her baby daughter’s handprint will be priceless and precious to her.

There won’t be a designer label there…If you like things with labels then my jewellery is not for you.

Maybe you need an instant purchase? I can’t do that either… I don’t have duplicate stock in lots of different shapes and sizes, and I do need time to make your piece. All my jewellery is made by hand and only made by me…I’m not Elizabeth Duke!

#2 “I can’t afford it”

There are cheaper alternatives out there. You could jump on eBay and look for something which looks quite similar – on the surface – and it will cost less…initially.

I don’t sell cheaper items because I value the item I am making for you, just as much as you do. I want your jewellery to last and I want it to bring years of memories.

Could I make my jewellery cheaper?

  • I could not have invested in a kiln – just given it a quick blast on the gas stove or a blow torch. Yup, you could make a charm that way…plenty of sellers do this (and plenty buyers don’t know this).
  • I could make you a tiny charm with much less silver.
  • I could not solder the jump ring that will hold your jewellery to your necklace. Chances are it would fall off in no time at all, and be lost forever…
  • I didn’t need to buy machinery to polish and harden your piece before you took it home, but because I did – your piece will be significantly stronger for it too.
If you’re looking for the cheapest option, not the best value option – I’m not the person to make jewellery for you.

Is there a better solution?

There are ways to make everything more affordable and jewellery is no exception.

Split the costs

If you would like jewellery made but just don’t have the budget for it right now…ask about splitting the cost over a couple of months, or longer. I’m happy to set up a payment plan option for you to pay what you can when you can. It will take longer until you own your jewellery – but you know what they say about being patient 😉

Only buy the kit just now, not the jewellery

If you would like to invest in the best but you just cannot justify the expense…right now…you could just buy the kit. You can capture the moment or the memory now and keep it safe for as long as you want to. When the time is right for you, you have the memories and you can have your jewellery created.

#3 “I’m not ready to make that decision right now”

Zig Ziglar calls this is the stage that you have no hurry or desire to buy – right now.

Buying jewellery isn’t a top priority – I get it!

We’re all so busy. If you’re like me you probably know it is something you’d love to do, but day-to-day ‘stuff’ gets in the way!!

Maybe these moments don’t feel too precious right now. When you have a newborn baby you’re so enthralled to sit and watch your new little miracle that you forget this moment passes in a flash. But it’s too late once the moment has gone. Milestone after milestone your child grows and changes…will you remember just how tiny those hands and feet were in years to come?

People are not in our lives forever.

Whether we choose to forget this or don’t want to accept it…none of us are here forever and what if the day comes and you regret not holding onto a fingerprint of a loved one?

Maybe it’s too painful or emotional to face some situations? I get that…it can be very tough.

Maybe you’re worried about lifting the phone and trying to ask for help on how to capture a memory?

“What if I cry?” Chances are I will cry with you!! I always have a big box of tissues to hand…you’d be amazed how many tears I see on a daily basis. (Just to confirm…you can cry and be happy too!! I don’t just have miserable customers!!! Promise)

But if it’s easier you’re welcome to talk to me by email, or text, or my web chat option…go for it!  All the jewellery I make can be made from a distance too…if you don’t fancy being here face-to-face, its no problem at all. I am more than happy to arrange everything by post.

If it doesn’t feel emotionally right for you to do this, if you’re ok letting these moments fade to memories, then you probably shouldn’t be ordering from Impressive Memories.

4.“I don’t trust you yet”

That’s understandable – why should you? Why should you trust me with your money or your memories? Well, here are 8 things I’ve done to try and help.

  1. I’ve been in business since January 2011, and plan to be around for many more.
  2. I have 32 five star reviews on Google added in 2018. I also have a one-star review from someone who’s never set foot in my business or had any contact with my business, but he felt the need to be nasty…hmmm I wonder why? Ah well…the other 32 are genuine.
  3. In 2016 I was voted by my customers as ‘Fife’s Best Home Based Business’ and got through to the national finals with http://www.scotlandsbusinessawards.co.uk (I didn’t win a national award…yet)
  4. My website is built on a site that I have made as secure as I can. In the address bar, you’ll see an https address with a little green padlock – The ‘S’ at the end of HTTPS stands for ‘Secure’. It means all communications between your browser and my website are encrypted (that means your details are safe).
  5. There are a few other things I do with my website to keep it safe and secure…it doesn’t cost a huge amount more…a few hundred pounds invested in MY website each year means that YOU can feel safe making a purchase. I think it’s worth paying it.
  6. I use PayPal to process your web transactions. Most of us know and trust PayPal.
  7. My invoicing is done online using STRIPE. They are a very similar company to PayPal but not quite so well known (yet).
  8. I accept all major cards for payment, I don’t ask customers to pay using cash – you’re very welcome to use cash, but if you make a card payment you have more security. All purchases on payments cards are recorded, with a paper trail. This safety feature comes in handy when you need to dispute or cease an unauthorised transaction. I would hope you would never need or want to raise a dispute, but should the need arise, you can.
If you still feel there’s a risk, then maybe Impressive Memories isn’t right for you.

Final Thoughts

Not everybody needs what I make and maybe you don’t either. I don’t want every customer to come to me…but I do want the right customers to come to me. When you leave with the item I make you I want you to be 100% happy with it, I want you to love it and tell others that you love it too.

If you think I AM a good fit for you…I’d love to help you further…

Wedding Day Memories: 6 ideas to capture

Wedding Day Memories: 6 ideas to capture

Would you like to create tangible memories of your wedding?

Weddings – big or small, traditional or wacky, lavishly extravagant or cosy & intimate – it is a day to be remembered. However you choose to celebrate, your wedding day should be filled with Impressive Memories.

With months (possibly years) of planning, and an enormous amount of work and effort you think you have covered every possible idea to make your day absolutely perfect. No doubt you’ve spent evenings knee deep in Pinterest boards, dreaming of your perfect day.

Because let’s face it…none of us want our day to be bland or predictable. Nobody wants peach silk bridesmaids, do they? Everyone wants to have the wow factor and for their day to be remembered as being spectacular.

Fear not!! I can help you create 6 ideas that absolutely nobody else can replicate. Guaranteed to be as unique as the couple who are tying the knot…

Here are 6 personalised memories for you to incorporate into your wedding day celebrations.

#1 Bride & Groom Hand Cast

To have and to hold

Why not create a completely personal work of art with a 3d hand cast incorporating those all-important wedding rings? You can organise this yourself or why not suggest that friends and family contribute to buy you this as a totally unique wedding gift?

Hand casting for couples starts from £135. A little bit more if you’d like to include ornate rings with stone settings.

This beautiful example was created by a couple who were first married in Serbia (the grooms home), then had a second wedding here in Fife (the brides home). The newlyweds visited my studio (between weddings) and the plan was for the cast to be hand delivered, by the father of the bride, on his next journey to Serbia.

#2 Wedding Cufflinks for the Groom

From this day forward

What more could a Groom ask for on his wedding day than to wear personalised cufflinks created from his very own son or daughter?

Travis made these for his Daddy as a surprise gift on the morning of his mummy and daddy’s wedding day. It was quick, clean and simple for Travis to pop to my studio and have his prints taken, but means the absolute world to his parents to have their son at their wedding. Now his little hand and footprints are captured for a lifetime at the moment of such an impressive event.

Linzi Moffat

I decided to get my husband a gift for our wedding day, personalised cufflinks with my son’s hand and footprint, however, I had left it a bit late for timing but Jen made sure they would be ready on time! Her studio is beautiful! I almost cried each time I received my items from her. I cannot thank her enough and urge people to have a look on her site! She is amazing at what she does, I can’t wait to be back in her studio again one day!

#3 Your Wedding Dress on a Silver Pandora Charm

For better, for worse

Would you like to wear your wedding dress every day? Well, you can’t…because you’d look like an idiot. Imagine going on the school run wearing your wedding dress? Nipping around the supermarket? It’s not gonna happen is it?

But you could have a silver charm made with an impression of your wedding dress. You could wear it on your Pandora bracelet, on a pendant or maybe a ring? Then you COULD wear it everyday…impressive!

These aren’t in my online shop at the moment, drop me a message and I’ll help you order this charm today.

#4 Your Wedding Bouquet in a handmade silver charm

For richer, for poorer

Flowers make your wedding day bloom…ing lovely! I adore fresh flowers and, for me, they are a hugely important part any special occasion. Sadly though, flowers don’t last long – but jewellery can last a lifetime.

Do you have a favourite flower? My personal favourite flower is a lily, which is why I adore making silver fingerprint lilies.

Created from a love heart of silver and gently rolled into a lily, they have the fingerprint impression of a loved one tucked inside. It could be a guest who lived too far away and was unable to attend your wedding. Or a loved one no longer with us. Whoever you choose.

I recently made a pair of fingerprint lily earrings for a lovely lady. She was delighted with them and I think they will be a popular choice for everyone.

Maggie Gray

A truly professional job by a very caring lady. I can’t thank her enough for all her help during a very difficult time for me. I am absolutely delighted with my gorgeous items, they are unique and stunning. I definitely recommend entrusting Jen with your priceless memories. She will give you all the help and advice you want.

#5 Wedding Guest Fingerprint Plate

In sickness and in health

When you’re planning a wedding you also have to plan who will share your special day.

It might be that some guests are ill and don’t manage to spend the day with you as they’d planned. They could still be part of capturing a memory by having them create a fingerprint tree of family and friends.

They will love being part of your wedding family tree!

Each guest can add a leaf with their fingerprint and even leave a signature or a message for you both.

#6 Honouring a deceased loved one at your wedding

Until death do us part.

Your wedding day is a celebration surrounded by loved ones, sadly we may have relatives and friends who’ve passed away and can’t be there for your big day. That doesn’t mean they can’t still be part of your celebration – there are a few ways you can incorporate them into your special occasion.

I offer a range of jewellery that incorporates locks of hair, cremation ashes, fingerprints and handwriting and signatures. You can find out more about Memorial memories in a blog that I wrote here.

Conclusion

These are just 6 ideas to let you see how to make your wedding as unique as you are.

If you have a question about any of the items shown here or you’re left wondering…

Who can help bring my ideas to reality?

The answer is…

“I do”

And you don’t even need to get down on one knee to ask me.

Best Wishes

Online Shop: What’s changed and why?

Online Shop: What’s changed and why?

Online Shop: What's changed and why?

I’ve been having a spring clean! I’d had so many people asking where to find this, that and the other and my answer was ‘that’s in my online shop’… the only problem was…finding it!

I have spent this week dusting and hoovering all the categories, polishing the photos and making everything much brighter, cheerier and easier to use – I hope you agree.

Here’s a quick video to show you what I’ve been up to…

Shop Categories

I’ve now arranged the items into categories that are customer friendly…

  • Fingerprint Jewellery
  • Hand & Footprint Jewellery
  • Memorial Jewellery
  • Pet Inspired Jewellery

These are the four most visited categories.

Then I’ve added new sections for ‘Locks of Hair‘ jewellery and Gift Ideas for mums and one for dads too.

If you’d like a necklace or bracelet to go with your impressive jewellery they’re all there, as well as spare kits and gift vouchers too.

What if you don’t know what you’re looking for?

Maybe you need some inspiration to find a gift, or just enjoy browsing lots of new ideas? You can do that too…all the items are listed as well as being in their categories…

How do I get back to the main shop page?

The easiest method is to go back to the original ‘Online Shop’ button at the top of the page.

What’s New?

I’ve added two new locket designs – one encapsulates your elements on the outside and the other has then tucked safely inside. A new engraving option has also been added.

There’s a new range of pendant charms. More sizes will be added soon but this dinky charm is so easy to wear. Very impressive.

A new item for the Dads is the tie pin. Great for special occasions where maybe a lost one can’t be with you on a special day, but their memory can.

All can hold locks of hair, cremation ashes or a maybe a piece of pet fur.

Signature & Handwritten Charms

Finally added my Signature and Handwriting charms online too. These charms are a great choice to capture a memory of a loved one…their very own message written just for you.

Coming Soon!

There’s more to come…Keep an eye out for two new earring designs…I can’t wait to add these to the shop too…so pretty.

Mothers Day: Gift Guide

Mothers Day: Gift Guide

What do you buy your mum on Mother’s Day?

Flowers? Always a favourite, but they are expensive and last only a few days…Chocolates? They are always welcome, but somehow just don’t feel ‘enough’. Wine is also welcomed, but it lasts even less time than the chocolates, let alone the flowers!!

Would you like a gift that is totally unique, handmade for mum, inspired by the very person (or persons) who made her a mum in the first place?

Maybe you are a mum yourself and you’d like to ‘help’ someone choose the right gift for you – share this with them and start hinting!

 You’re in the right place!

Every mum is different and she deserves a present as unique as she is. Mums aren’t mass produced, and the gift that she’s given on the 11th March 2018 shouldn’t be either.

There is something for everyone.  Well, everyone that’s Impressive enough!

1. Gifts Under £25

Want to make an impression but not burst the bank?

Book an appointment to come along and get creative! Bring along some little hands and feet and create a gift for Mum, Gran, Aunty…YOURSELF.  No mess and stress of visiting a busy ceramic cafe. I’m here to help, guide, inspire you to create something that’s simply beautiful. I can give as much or as little to help as you wish.

Please book before Friday 2nd of March to guarantee your item is ready to collect in time for Mother’s Day.

2. Handmade Jewellery

Handmade jewellery can be made for Impressive Mums.  Distance is not a problem…all jewellery can be made by posting out a kit for you to take the prints for me. If you live nearby you can book an appointment and I can take them for you.

Please book an appointment before 25th February to guarantee your item is ready to collect in time for Mother’s Day.

Online/web orders must be placed prior to this, and all elements returned to me by the 25th February to guarantee your item is ready to be posted/collected in time for Mother’s Day.

3. Gift Vouchers

Choose a Gift Voucher and let mum be part of the creative fun!

If you’re quick you might still manage to grab an appointment as near to Mother’s Day as possible…capture a memory to treasure for a lifetime.

Vouchers can also be used for jewellery and ceramic orders. Online and at appointments too.

4. Golden Fingerprint Jewellery

If Mum prefers a golden charm to silver, this could be perfect!

  • Costs almost the same as silver.
  • Golden Moments are not a precious metal
  • Charms do not need Hallmarked.
  • They are a solid golden metal alloy NOT PLATED and will not wear off
  • All metals will tarnish – this will too – but a cleaning cloth and a gentle wipe will bring it back to its shining glory.
  • I’ll give you a free cleaning cloth!
  • It is a very robust and strong metal – it will not scratch or damage easily.
  • Golden Moments are better suited to more defined fingerprints – so toddlers through to adults, and pets too! Miniprints will suit better for babies.

5. Miniaturised Charms of YOUR child

Are you looking for a truly Impressive gift?

These solid Sterling Silver charms are miniaturised from your child’s hand and foot!! How awesome is that?

The price might look high, but if you investigate this style of jewellery you will find that only a handful of people in the UK can offer these, and nobody (that I am aware of) is doing them for as good a price!

These charms are made entirely by myself – I have developed my own technique that is different to the rest of the UK market.

This doesn’t mean they are only limited to my local clients because I am building a network of lifecasters who will be on hand to help create the initial lifecasts. (I need the lifecast as the first stage in creating these).

Find out more about these Impressive ‘Tiny Treasures’…with split payments, they are much more affordable than you may think, and such a talking point!

Got a question?

I’m sure you have lots of questions. Here are a few I’ve been asked recently…(click on the question to see the answer). If you’d like to know anything – just ask!

I live too far away - can I order anything?

Yes, all jewellery can be made by posting out a kit for you to take the initial prints.  You may even have hand/footprints already that I can use…best to get in touch and ask.  Call me on 07837800353 or email [email protected]

My budget is under £25 can you help?

Yes, I have lots of ceramic options for you to create in this budget.  Take a look…

I am a mum of many...can jewellery combine more than one child?

Yes, I have lots of jewellery designs that can show off your impressive children no matter how many you have!

Do you have any gift ideas for 'mum-to-be'?

Gift Vouchers are a perfect idea! They are valid for one year, but if baby isn’t due for a while, I will add longer onto the voucher.

I've left it too late - HELP?

It’s never too late!! Why not order an item and have the print kit ready to take the impressions on Mother’s Day, then have your piece made. You waited 9 months for a baby, you can wait a fortnight for your jewellery 😉

I'm a mum to an angel, can I have anything made?

If you have ink prints or hand/footprints I can turn these into jewellery for you. The originals will come to no harm.  I also make memorial keepsakes from locks of hair and cremation ashes too.

Drop me an email if you’d like me to help [email protected]  or call for a chat on 07837800353.

My mum has passed away, could I remember her on Mother's Day?

Take a look at HERE and see if you’d like to remember your mum with any of these ideas. Drop me an email if you’d like me to help [email protected]  or call for a chat on 07837800353.

Mother's Day - 11th March 2018

If you’re a mum, a step-mum, a foster mum, an adopted mum…If you’ve been a mum, you’ll be a mum soon, or you had an awesome mum who’s now passed…

If you’re able to go and hug your mum and tell her how amazing she is on the 11th of March – do it!!

And not just on this one day, because mums never stop being mums…

Be sure to make their day Impressive and filled with Memories.

Happy Mother’s Day from me,

Jen xxx
